Chess The Musical debuted in 1986, having been inspired by actual events. The Musical is about a narrative of a complex love issue that’s set with a dramatic political undertone that’s premised on the early 1980s Cold war. In the story, American and Soviet forces are mounting attempts to get an international chess competition in their favour, in a bid to benefit politically.

The Musical featured hits including I Know Him So well which is recognised in the Guinness Records’ Books as the highest selling UK chart single released by a female duo. The musical also features One Night In Bangkok. It also comprises songs from Chess The Musical and it’s acclaimed all over the world with Rolling Stone describing the original album as having a dazzling score that covers almost all pop bases.

Thanks to its iconic music, the musical cemented its place in pop culture, especially after I Know Him So Well’s huge chart success with a #1 in the UK and #21 in Australia.

It is noteworthy that Chess The Musical is produced by impresario Adrian Storey and directed by popular director Tyran Parke. The musical’s choreography is coordinated by Freya List, and Sound Design by the renowned designer Michael Waters.
