Ben Elton Unveils Reschedule New Aussie Stand-up Dates

The Schedule For Ben Elton

In another effect of the COVID-19 pandemic that has been ravaging the world since early 2020, Ben Elton was forced to cancel his planned 2020 tour in Australia.

However, with the improvement in the state of the pandemic, Ben Elton has now announced a number of dates for reschedules shows as well as new stand-up shows for March and April.

It has been quite a while since Ben Elton last performed in Australia. This was in the year 2006 and a whole lot of things have changed since that time. This is even acknowledged by Ben Elton himself when he stated that he was still very much smarter than his phone the last time he went on a tour but that things have taken quite the funny turn since.

This is a reference to the rise of smartphones over the past decade and how much progress the world has made digitally since the 2000s

The tour is set to kick off in late March, with the first show in WA. Ben Elton is then expected to tour through Bunbury, Wollongong, Bendigo, Margaret River, Mandurah, Hobart, Launceston, and Rockhampton.

This tour is quite significant, especially since it marks the return of the legendary Ben Elton after a long while. Not only is Ben Elton a famous stand-up comedian, but he has also attained massive success as an author, playwright, actor, and director.

He cracked the comedy scene over 30 years ago with Saturday Live and has since made a name for himself in several career paths. Presently, Ben Elton has to his name 16 best-selling novels, of which 6 are number one best-sellers.

Ben Elton also explored writing sit-coms and had his first sit-com credit as a co-writer of the iconic The Young Ones. He then proceeded to secure writing credits in Blackadder II, Blackadder the Third, and Blackadder Goes Forth. Ben Elton and Richard Curtis are said to have been behind the massive success of these shows.

Ben Elton also penned the famous ‘exam’ episode of Mr. Bean. Ben Elton also has writing credits in Upstart Cow. Similarly, just last year, he took part in the writing of Kenneth Branagh’s popular biopic about William Shakespeare – All Is True.

Ben Elton then went on to create his own TV show – Ben Elton: The Man From Auntie, which was a massive success and won him many fans and viewers. He also created The Ben Elton Show.

By 2000, Ben Elton was already a renowned name in comedy and screenplay. He, however, did not stop there and went into film directing. He was able to direct Maybe Baby, and in 2017, he directed Three Summers – a film largely Australian-made.

Throughout his career, Ben Elton has, unsurprisingly, picked up a couple of awards. He has won a Royal Television Society Writer’s Award, three BAFTAs, the Eurovision Golden Rose D’Or Lifetime Achievement Award, two Laurence Olivier Awards, and several more.

Tickets for Ben Elton’s 2021 Australian shows have all gone on sale in February, and arrangements can now be made for single tickets, complete tour tickets as well as VIP Experience.
