In the past, Nicole has been nominated a whopping 16 times for various categories in the Globes, and has won 5.

For the Best Motion Picture — Musical Or Comedy, the romantic comedy Palm Springs directed by Andy Samberg and actress-singer, Cristin Milioti, was nominated. Andy Samberg himself was in turn nominated for the award of Best Performance By An Actor In A Motion Picture — Musical Or Comedy, for his role in the movie.

Still in this category, the controversial comedy Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, which is the sequel to the earlier Borat, produced by Sacha Baron Cohen landed not one, but three (3) nominations. The other nominations are Best Performance By An Actor In A Motion Picture — Musical Or Comedy for which Cohen was nominated. Then there is the Best Performance By An Actor In A Motion Picture — Musical Or Comedy for which Maria Bakalova was nominated.

Other Australian stars on the lists include Trent Reznor and fellow members of the Nine Inch Nails, Atticus Rose. Others are Tony McNamara and star musician, HER.

The Golden Globes Awards are a series of accolades awarded by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) which consists of 93 members. The Awards ceremony commemorates excellence in film and television, both in America and internationally. The awards are meant for film and TV productions released between January 1 and December 31 of the previous year.

The 77-year old awards ceremony is the third most popular awards show, only trailing the Oscars and the Grammys.

The awards are clearly divided into motion pictures and television with a number of subcategories under each.

This year’s event has been slated for 28th February (which is 1st March in Australia) and for the first time, it will be completely virtual. This is entirely attributed to the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic and the attendant need for proper physical distancing to slow the tide of the virus.
